Handling Firearms
- Read
the instructions you receive with your firearm carefully before using your
firearm. Make sure you understand them and familiarise yourself with all
functions of the firearm.
- Disregard
to detail may lead to accident or death.
- In
case of firearm malfunction be sure to check the following before
investigating the problem
- The
magazine is removed from the pistol
- The
chamber is empty
- The
barrel is free of obstructions
- Follow
the instructions in the firearm’s manual for unloading and disassembling
the firearm.
- Keep
the action open when handling the firearm.
- Never
point the barrel of a firearm at any person, even if you think it is not
loaded. Always point the firearm in a safe direction.
- Keep
your finger off the trigger when loading, unloading or general handling of
the firearm.
- Always
treat your firearm as if it is loaded and ready to shoot.
- Only
put your finger on the trigger when the firearm is pointing at the target.
- Always
wear eye and ear protection when shooting.
- Keep
your hands and body away from any moving parts, such as the recoiling
slide, when shooting.
- Your
firearm should be stored in a safe place, preferably under lock and key,
and inaccessible to unauthorised persons, particularly children .
- Good
quality factory ammunition should be used at all times.
- Reloaded
ammunition can deviate from factory specifications and should not be used.
- Safeties
on the firearm may be affected by unusually heavy loads, heavy shock or
falls. If any of these incidents occur your firearm should be checked by a
qualified gunsmith.
